Troy Deeney's four-match ban upheld after Watford red card appeal fails

Troy Deeney will serve a four-match ban after Watford failed in their appeal to have the striker's red card against Huddersfield rescinded.
Deeney was shown a straight red card by referee Michael Oliver for a challenge on Collin Quaner during the Hornets' 4-1 defeat to the Terriers on December 16.
Watford confirmed that their appeal against the red card was unsuccessful in a statement on Twitter.
The statement read: "#watfordfc has learned from The Football Association that its appeal lodged against Troy Deeney's red card on Saturday (Dec 16 v Huddersfield Town) has been unsuccessful.
"Troy will therefore serve a four-match ban covering the games Dec 23, Dec 26, Dec 30 & Jan 2."
Deeney will now miss four matches instead of the usual three-game ban after already serving a suspension earlier this season.
The Watford captain was handed a retrospective three-match ban in October after accepting a charge of violent conduct following an altercation with Stoke midfielder Joe Allen.
Deeney will now miss the upcoming games against Brighton, Swansea, Leicester and Manchester City, with the striker's next available match coming against Bristol City in the FA Cup on January 6.
