Watford have released Jordan Parkes after the defender failed to break into the first-team squad.
Mackay wishes defender the best for the future
Watford have confirmed the release of Jordan Parkes after the young defender failed to establish himself in the first-team squad.
Parkes came through the Academy at Vicarage Road and made his senior debut for the club as a 17-year-old against Accrington Stanley in the League Cup in 2006.
However, he has featured only four more times since that appearance and his last outing in a Watford shirt came in September 2008 against West Ham United - again in the League Cup.
He has also undertaken loan spells at Barnet, Brentford and Stevenage Borough and has now been allowed to find another club.
Hornets boss Malky Mackay told the club's
official website: "Myself and the football staff give Jordan our best wishes for his future career."
