FA Cup: Watford boss Slavisa Jokanovic remains upbeat despite exit to Chelsea

Watford manager Slavisa Jokanovic insisted he was happy with his side's performance despite being knocked out of the FA Cup third round by Chelsea.

The Hornets put on a defiant display and threatened to cause an upset a number of times, but second-half goals from substitute Willian, Loic Remy and Kurt Zouma sealed a 3-0 win for the Blues on Sunday.

Jokanovic said: “I must be happy with the performance of my team. We worked very hard in the game, off the ball, and made chances.

“We came here wanting to surprise Chelsea and we had that spirit throughout the game. We tried to do that until the end.

“Our plan was to be in good shape, make fast counter-attacks and not give them the chance to counter-attack us. We did that and made some half chances but we didn't score.

“The arrival of Willian at half-time put another speed in the Chelsea team and we started to have more problems than in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, they shot four times and scored three goals.

“We played against a very strong team in Chelsea. They've invested a few more millions on the field than us and they brought on players who opened the game. After they scored the first goal, it becomes more easy for them and in the end that was the result.”
