Birmingham City have confirmed that Gary Rowett will be staying at the club despite interest from Fulham.

Sky Sports News HQ reported last week that Rowett was to remain as Blues boss after being targeted for the vacant head coach role at Fulham.

And in statement on Monday morning, City director Panos Pavlakis said: "Gary is fully committed to the club and likewise the club is fully committed to him.

"We are all keen to put any uncertainty to bed and look forward to the continuation of the great work Gary has done since his appointment.

"Fans can rest assured that everyone at the club is together as one striving for further improvement and success, with Gary at the helm as manager.

"The board will continue to fully support Gary in every way it can in trying to restore this great club of ours to a position where we all want to be."

Reading boss Clarke and Rowett were on a Fulham shortlist that also included the former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson and Exeter boss Paul Tisdale.

The West London club are on the hunt for a new head coach after sacking previous manager Kit Symons on November 8.

Fulham want a head coach as opposed to a manager to allow chief football officer Mike Rigg to have more central control of transfers in and out of the club.
