Nottingham Forest lose appeal against red card shown to David Vaughan

Nottingham Forest have lost their appeal against the red card shown to David Vaughan against Birmingham on Tuesday night.
The midfielder was sent off in the 74th minute of the Sky Bet Championship fixture at the City Ground for a foot-high challenge to the head of Blues striker Clayton Donaldson.
Vaughan will now serve a three-match suspension as Forest were not punished with an additional game's ban for a frivolous appeal.
Reds boss Dougie Freedman described the 32-year-old's dismissal as "harsh" but he will be without his playmaker against Bolton on Saturday, as well as the trip to Middlesbrough and the visit of QPR.
Vaughan will be available again when Forest host Watford in the FA Cup fourth round on January 30.
