Derby trounced Brentford 3-1 away from home on Saturday to hand Darren Wassall his first win as caretaker manager.
The Rams came from behind to score three goals in the last 15 minutes including stoppage time to lift themselves up to fifth in the Championship table.
Brentford attacker Alan Judge fired the Griffin Park hosts into a 52nd-minute lead but the visitors drew level in the 80th minute when Jeff Hendrick fired into the bottom-left corner.
Cyrus Christie then put Derby 2-1 ahead four minutes later before Chris Martin scored his first goal in 11 league games in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Above Derby, Burnley remain unbeaten in 10 league games after winning 2-0 at home to struggling Rotherham.
Sam Vokes fired the Clarets into a 27th-minute lead from the penalty spot after George Boyd was felled in the box, before Scott Arfield turned in Andre Gray's pass to wrap up three points in the second half.
Rotherham's fourth defeat in six was new manager Neil Warnock's first taste of life in charge of the struggling Millers, and it allowed Fulham to extend their gap to the bottom four to nine points with a home win over Charlton.
Two goals from Tom Cairney and a first for January loan signing Michael Madl gave the Whites a 3-0 win at Craven Cottage, increasing Charlton's peril at the foot of the table.
And MK Dons also remain in deep trouble just outside the drop zone after losing 2-0 at home to relegation rivals Bristol City. Jonathan Kodjia scored twice for the away side.
Preston kept their play-off hopes alive with a 1-0 home win over in-form Sheffield Wednesday, who went down to 10 men when Fernando Forestieri was sent off for a second yellow card.
Joel Garner scored the winner - his first goal in 12 Championship matches - to move Preston into the top 10 and to within eight points of sixth-placed Wednesday.
Huddersfield also won 1-0 at home against Wolves thanks to Nahki Wells' late winner.
QPR earned a 1-1 draw at struggling Bolton thanks to Matty Phillips' stoppage-time equaliser, which cancelled out Zach Clough's opener.
Earlier on Saturday, Cardiff thrashed Brighton 4-1 in south Wales thanks to two goals from Peter Whittingham, including a penalty, and further strikes from Anthony Pilkington and Lex Immers. Dale Stephens scored for Brighton.
