The EFL has asked Huddersfield for their observations after criticism of David Wagner's team selection at Birmingham on Saturday.

With Town's play-off place already assured boss Wagner made 10 changes and saw his side beaten 2-0, despite an early red card for Birmingham's Che Adams.

The result means Blues go into the final round of Championship games two points clear of their relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and Blackburn.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray told Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday he understood Wagner's decision but worried about its impact on "the integrity of the league".

And now Town must explain themselves to the EFL, which said in a statement: "We have today written to Huddersfield Town to request their observations in relation to team selection during their recent Sky Bet Championship match with Birmingham City.
