Creative midfielder determined to take City to the next level
Hull City new boy Jay-Jay Okocha believes the club have the potential to be bigger than Bolton Wanderers.
The former Nigeria international signed a one-year deal with City on Tuesday, after spending a season with Qatar SC.
Okocha will once again work under City boss Phil Brown, who was the assistant manager to Sam Allardyce, during a successful spell the pair enjoyed at Bolton.
The 34-year-old spent four years with Bolton after joining on a free transfer in 2002, and was a fundamental figure in the club's impressive transformation, from Premier League strugglers to Uefa Cup qualifiers.
Okocha is sure that The Tigers can better Bolton's achievements, and he is determined to help the team gain promotion in the near future.
Potential
"I am here to take the club to the next level. The manager did not have to sell the idea to me. What convinced me is that he is not just here to settle for the Championship," Okocha told the Yorkshire Post.
"Hull have the potential to be bigger than Bolton. In this region, you do not have any other clubs. In Bolton, there were so many clubs around them.
"That is why this club has more potential to be bigger than Bolton.
"That is why I am thinking beyond one year. I want to be part of a team pushing for promotion. If we do not do that, well, then it is pointless for me to have come here.
"Hull have everything in place to be a Premiership side. Hopefully, it will happen soon."
