Bluebirds midfielder keen to stay at Ninian Park

Ricardo Scimeca is ready to sign a new deal at Cardiff City having returned to fitness following a lengthy injury lay-off. The versatile 32-year-old has figured in just four Championship matches this term, starting just two of them, but is nonetheless seen as an influential figure at Ninian Park. Scimeca admits it is frustrating not to play regularly but insists when the call comes from Bluebirds boss Dave Jones he will be ready for action. "I would love to stay with Cardiff and I am in talks with the manager (Dave Jones) and chairman (Peter Ridsdale)," he told the South Wales Echo. "I had a bad time when I was out injured, but now I feel back to where I was before that. "I'm feeling good - I've been in full training for a while - and I will be ready when needed. "It's frustrating for every footballer when you are not playing regularly.

Ready for recall

"We are all in this together, though, and our aim is to earn promotion to the Premier League. "My role at the moment is to be ready when the chance comes, both mentally and physically. "Yes, motivation can be difficult, but I will ensure I am fully prepared no matter what. "We have a fantastic group of players and everybody believes we can achieve promotion. "Over the three years I have been with Cardiff everything has been transformed here and we are pushing hard."
