Whitecaps striker heading for talks over Hawthorns move

West Bromwich Albion have agreed an undisclosed fee with Vancouver Whitecaps for promising striker Marcus Haber. The 20-year-old trained with the Championship club back in November and did enough to earn a move to The Hawthorns. Haber, who had a spell with Dutch club Groningen earlier in his career, is now travelling to England to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical. Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo has been looking to improve his squad and will hope to agree a contract with Haber. Meanwhile, Di Matteo says Robert Koren still has a role to play for West Brom after previously admitting he would be prepared to sell the Slovenian midfielder. Koren made his comeback from injury as a substitute in the FA Cup at Huddersfield last weekend and had been tipped to move in order to safeguard his World Cup prospects. Di Matteo said: "I put him on the pitch to give him a few minutes and he is another player who will be important for us. "We have said from day one that everybody is important and we will need everybody. "People who are not playing just have to believe they can get into the team and stay in. There will be a lot of opportunities in the second half of the season."
