Barnsley have put contract talks on hold as they set their sights on securing a play-off place.

Barnsley boss eager to concentrate on reviving play-off push

Barnsley have put all contract negotiations on hold as they set their sights on securing a Championship play-off place. David Preece, Stephen Foster and Luke Potter have recently agreed new deals at Oakwell. And although the Tykes have 10 members of their first-team squad out of contract in the summer, manager Mark Robins has put contract talks on the backburner as they focus on reviving their promotion challenge. Barnsley slipped to 13th place after last week's 6-1 defeat at Newcastle but remain only seven points adrift of the top six with 12 league games remaining. "We have put all contract discussions on hold now until the end of the season when we will know where we are and what we can do," said Robins.

Focus

"We can only concentrate on the games now and focus on getting more points on the board and playing some decent football." The Tykes will aim to boost their play-off hopes as they play host to relegation-threatened Crystal Palace and former Barnsley boss Paul Hart on Saturday. "It's business as usual for us and we have to knuckle down and concentrate on our football," Robins added. "This is all about Barnsley and what we do. We have to impose ourselves on the game. "We will have to be ready for a battle as they will be fighting for their lives."
