Defender step closer to featuring for Pilgrims after passing exam

Onismor Bhasera could be available for selection for Plymouth on Saturday after passing his Basic English exam. The Zimbabwean international defender signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Pilgrims earlier this month. But he had to take the Basic English test to qualify for a work permit in England and, now that he has passed the exam, his agent Ralph Nkomo says the 23-year-old will be eligible to play once some basic administration is completed, hopefully in the relegation clash at Scunthorpe on Saturday. Nkomo told Football365.co.za: "He has passed his exam and now he needs a stamp from his country of birth on the papers to finalise it.

Stamp

"He is flying to Zimbabwe today (Tuesday) and he will then return tomorrow night once he's got the stamp. "I'm going to check with SAFA today if Kaizer Chiefs have handed them the international clearance needed to complete his move to Plymouth, but like I have said, I don't foresee a problem in this case as Chiefs have been co-operating well with us." Bhasera has spent almost a year on the sidelines following a contract wrangle with the Amakhosi. The contract dispute put an end to the defender's mooted move to Portsmouth earlier this season but Nkomo is optimistic that Bhasera will be available for selection this weekend. "If all goes well, Bhasera will play for Plymouth over the weekend," he said.
