Tykes shake up squad ahead of 2010-11 campaign
Barnsley boss Mark Robins has already begun building his squad for the new season by closing in on the signature of Motherwell forward Jim O'Brien.
Robins has already moved to release five players following the end of the campaign on Sunday, while three players on loan at Oakwell - Stoke pair Carl Dickinson and Ryan Shotton and West Brom's Filipe Teixeira - return to their respective parent clubs.
It comes as Robins looks to freshen up the playing ranks ahead of the 2010-11 season and 22-year-old O'Brien looks to be the Tykes' first signing.
Club director Don Rowling told the
Sheffield Star: "Mark knows what players he wants and Jim is on his list.
"Jim will be coming down to the club later this week for talks, hopefully we will be able to do a deal.
"He's a player who has come highly recommended and Mark has watched him, sees great potential in him and is keen to sign him."
