Boro defender hails former coach
Stephen McManus will forever be indebted to Gordon Strachan for bringing him to Middlesbrough, whilst he is now focused on moving on with the club.
Strachan parted ways with Boro a couple of days ago, after enduring a torrid start to the season.
McManus admits it was tough to accept the departure of his now former coach, whilst acknowledging that it is just part of the game.
"As soon as the news broke the squad were bitterly disappointed, but you move on," McManus said.
"That's football and that's how it goes.
Tough
"It's been tough for the whole club but that's football and as footballers we have a job to do. Any fan in our position would relish it so it's up to us to be professional and that's what we'll do
"That's football, you move on. I've been really lucky to work with the manager a few times. He brought me down and I love every minute of it down here.
"I love everything about it. Without him I wouldn't have had the pleasure of coming here.
"But that's done. As a group of players we've not delivered and it's up to us to do the very best we possible can do for Aggers, for Dave Parnaby and for Proc."
The defender remains fully committed to helping the club emerge from the difficult period they are currently experiencing.
"We're going through one of those runs where everything that can do goes against us," he added.
"But there are many positives we can take out of last night's game and that's what we'll do."
