Rovers determined to keep hold of striker

Skysports.com understands Doncaster Rovers will resist all offers for Billy Sharp as they look to keep the striker at the Keepmoat Stadium. A number of Rovers' Championship rivals are believed to have expressed an interest in signing the 25-year-old. However, manager Dean Saunders is determined to keep hold of the former Sheffield United and Scunthorpe hit-man and add quality to his squad by bringing in players to play alongside Sharp. Leading agent Willie McKay, who has exclusive control over all transfer deals at Doncaster, admits Sharp is not for sale and they are working hard in bringing in new additions.

Top player

"There have been enquiries for Billy Sharp but Dean Saunders wants to keep him," McKay told skysports.com. "I believe up to eight clubs want Billy, but Dean does not want to lose him as he is a top player. "We want to keep players like Billy Sharp and add players of Premier League quality to the squad to help galvanise the team. "We have already brought in Pascal Chimbona, Herita Illunga, El Hadji Diouf and hopefully there will be more to come."
