Mick McCarthy was delighted with the performance of his Ipswich players as they ground out a 2-0 win over Gillingham.
Alex Henshall struck the opening goal for Ipswich inside the first minute at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium when he converted Cameron Stewart's cross.
Trialist Balint Bajner set up Ipswich's second, his cross on the hour-mark headed home at the near-post by Luke Hyam.
Visitng boss Mick McCarthy included another trialist in his starting line-up, Bajner joined by Kevin Bru, while Stephen Hunt missed out again due to a calf injury.
"It was a good workout for the lads, especially in the intense heat that both teams had to play in," McCarthy told Ipswich's official website.
"I thought we played well and I thought we deserved to win.
"I can't remember Gerks (Dean Gerken) having a save to make and I was thoroughly pleased with the performance.
"We're playing well and we've come through another game without picking up any injuries, so I'm very pleased."
