Rotherham boss Steve Evans believes his side will still feel the presence of suspended Iceland international Kari Arnason in their South Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Arnason picked up his 10th booking of the season in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest and will now serve a two-match ban.

The 32-year-old, who has recently switched to midfield from defence, has missed just one league game for the Millers this season - ironically the reverse fixture against the Owls in November, and he has been an integral part of Evans' side.

But the Millers boss believes he can still have an impact, despite watching from the stands.

"He goes out, it's an unfortunate booking, the referee booked two or three of ours early doors and they escaped," said Evans.

"He has done excellent for us, I think his passing was awful at Forest, he gave the ball away in areas my missus wouldn't have and she cannot pass for water.

"But the bottom line is he still gives us a presence and a good level.

"He is a character in the dressing room. He may not be playing on Saturday but he will sitting behind us and supporting us. He will be talking to the players before and after the game no doubt."

The Millers may also have to make a change at right-back as Jack Hunt limped off at Forest with a hip injury early in the second half and Evans rates him at 50/50.

"He twisted his hip near the end of the first half," the Scot added. "The longer the half-time period went on the stiffer it was getting.

"We asked if he could go and run it off but it was obviously too sore, he will be 50/50 for Saturday and we probably won't know until Friday to be honest."
