Best of weekend

Skysports.com looks at the best and worst moments from the latest round of top-flight fixtures.

Team of the week

Game of the weekend

Wigan 2 Stoke 2 An entertaining affair helped to warm a cold DW Stadium on Saturday as Wigan and Stoke both played their parts in a keenly-contested encounter. Four goals in the first half provided plenty to cheer, even if there were doubts about the quality of the goals, and the tempo remained in the second half.

Player of the weekend

Samir Nasri One or two contenders for this nomination, but Arsenal midfielder Nasri gets it for his decisive contribution in the 2-1 win over Fulham. The Frenchman scored a fine individual goal in the first half to give Arsenal the lead and then bettered that with the winner in the second half, with some sumptuous skill following a neat interchange of passes.

Goal of the weekend

Samir Nasri Nasri's first for Arsenal against Fulham was a fine display of nifty feet in the area, but his second edges it as it also involved a flowing team move. Nasri passed to Andrey Arshavin, who fed Robin van Persie to play the ball back into the path of Nasri, who skipped past a defender, rounded goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer and then produced a lovely pirouette before passing the ball into an empty net.

Miss of the weekend

Hendry Thomas The Wigan midfielder had a golden chance to draw his team level against Stoke on 38 minutes following good work by Charles N'Zogbia. Thomas was picked out unmarked inside the six-yard box but, rather than side-foot into an empty net, he somehow skewed his shot wide. Fortunately, Tom Cleverley did equalise for Wigan two minutes later to spare Thomas' blushes.

Save of the weekend

Ali Al Habsi With Wigan having twice come from behind to equalise at home to Stoke City, the home side were indebted to Al Habsi for staying level in the second half when the on-loan goalkeeper produced an excellent one-handed reaction save to keep out Kenwyne Jones' downward header from six yards out.

Gaffe of the weekend

Phil Neville Everton captain Neville had a momentary aberration when his poor back-pass was seized upon by Nicolas Anelka, who then collided with Tim Howard to earn Chelsea a penalty. Though there was debate about the merits of the penalty, there was no hiding place for Neville after putting his team in such a sticky situation.

Controversy of the weekend

Luis Boa Morte West Ham midfielder Boa Morte was fortunate not to be sent off after just six minutes of the game at Sunderland following a two-footed tackle on Kieran Richardson. Though his feet were barely off the ground, two-footed challenges are regularly punished by red cards in the modern game and it was a surprise that referee Martin Atkinson did not send Boa Morte off.

Hissy fit of the weekend

Carlos Tevez Having given Manchester City an early lead against Bolton, Tevez was withdrawn in the latter stages to protect that advantage following Aleksandar Kolarov's sending off. But the City captain was not happy with the decision and was grumbling about it on his way off the pitch before letting manager Roberto Mancini know exactly what he thought of being subbed. Stroppy.

Attempt of the weekend

Zoltan Gera With Fulham pushing for a late equaliser during their 2-1 defeat at Arsenal, Gera tried to score in acrobatic fashion as he produced a well-timed overhead kick from just inside the area which went narrowly off target. Excellent technique from the Hungarian.
