Manager not concerned about league position at half-way point
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has urged his players to not get paranoid about the club's league position.
The Blues are currently sitting 14th in the league, yet despite his side getting through to the semi-finals of the Carling Cup, McLeish knows expectations remain high.
Current league form is in contrast to last season when Birmingham finished ninth on their return to Premier League football.
This season McLeish's men are still to register an away win, yet the manager feels too much is made of league positions at this stage of the season.
"People start to get paranoid and start criticising you when you're in the bottom part of the table," McLeish told the
Birmingham Mail.
"But they shouldn't because the quality is great and it's a credit to the Premier League.
"At the end of the day there could be the 20 best teams in the world in a division, but someone will still be at the bottom. We've got to try and rise above it."
