Former Sunderland and France defender Anthony Reveillere has retired from football.

The 35-year-old has been without a club since leaving Wearside at the end of last season.

He made 17 appearances for Sunderland after joining on a free transfer in October 2014.

He told Canal+ Sport: "I stopped for lack of offers and also to stay with my children. I had gone to Sunderland alone, so it made me think."

Reveillere, who won 20 caps for France and was part of the squads for the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012, also played for Rennes, Valencia, Lyon and Napoli during his career.
