Sunderland have announced a reduction in the price of season tickets at the Stadium of Light for next season.

Adult tickets will now start from £350, an average of £18 per league game, a figure the club believe will remain competitive if they are relegated to the Championship.

Supporters over the age of 65 will pay £250, young adults under the age of 22 will pay £170 while adult and junior (aged under 16) packages cost £375.

Sunderland witnessed fans' discontent at the current pricing of tickets in the Premier League during their game at Anfield when a large section of the Liverpool supporters walked out after 77 minutes in protest over rising prices.

"Keeping the cost of watching football at a realistic level is something that is very topical at present, but for us it has always been top of our agenda," said Sunderland chief executive Margaret Byrne

"We know that the fans are what make this football club great and we hope that as many as possible will continue to have the opportunity to come to games and support the team."

Sunderland are in the Premier League relegation zone, one point from safety.
