Dutchman stays for another year
Sunderland midfielder Bolo Zenden has signed a new one-year deal at the Stadium of Light.
Zenden only signed a short-term contract when he joined Sunderland last October on a free transfer after being released from Marseille.
The 33-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place in Steve Bruce's starting XI, but the Black Cats boss was delighted to secure the former Liverpool and Chelsea man for a further 12 months.
"I'm delighted Bolo has agreed to stay with us," Bruce told the club's
official website.
"He has played at the top level for a long time and has a wealth of experience which is so valuable both on and off the pitch.
"He has a great influence on his team-mates and that is vital when you're bringing through the promising young players that we are."
