Stopper keen for new campaign to get underway

New Sunderland signing Titus Bramble insists he is fit and raring to go ahead of the new season. The 29-year-old defender, who had been sidelined since the start of May with a stress fracture to his ankle, made a successful comeback in the Black Cats' pre-season friendly against Leicester on Saturday. Former Ipswich and Newcastle man Bramble, who was reunited with ex-Wigan boss Steve Bruce after moving to Sunderland from the DW Stadium last month, says he feels in good shape ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Fitness

"I got a good 60 minutes on Saturday and the ankle felt fine, which is the main thing," Bramble told Sunderland's official website. "Now it's just a case of getting games and building my fitness up. "The atmosphere around the place is great. I'm just delighted to be here and everyone is buzzing and looking forward to the start of the season. "As soon as they come back for pre-season every player just wants the league to start and I'm no different."
