Gyan excited to play in "best league in world"
Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan cannot wait to make his Black Cats debut and fulfil a boyhood dream.
Gyan, 24, signed for Steve Bruce's men on transfer deadline day in a £13million move which smashed the club's transfer record.
The Ghana international will train with his new team-mates for the first time on Thursday after international duty and could be in the frame for his bow when the Black Cats visit Wigan on Saturday in the Premier League.
And if Gyan gets the nod from Bruce, it will be a special moment for former Rennes frontman.
Best in the world
"For me it is the best league in the world," he said. "It has been my dream to play here, so I am looking forward to playing my first game.
"Everybody watches the Premier League in Africa, it's the best league. I have followed it well and know all about it."
The striker is looking forward to blooding himself in the English game, and one fixture in particular stands out.
He said: "I didn't know a lot about Sunderland, but what I know about is the derby against Newcastle - everybody knows about that.
"I have watched the derby before and it's quite incredible, so I can't wait."
