Bramble to sit out run-in

Black Cats defender ruled out for the remainder of the season

Titus Bramble has revealed that he is set to miss the remainder of Sunderland's season. The centre-half has sat out the Black Cats' last two games with knee cartilage damage. It was hoped that he would be able to shake off the knock in time to figure for Steve Bruce's side during the end of season run-in. That, though, now looks unlikely, with Bramble having been informed that he requires a period of rest. On a positive note, the 29-year-old will not require surgery, but he must now start setting his sights on a return to competitive action in 2011/12. Bramble confirmed on his Twitter account: "Just been told that I'm unlikely to play again this season. I don't need an operation, so that's a bonus. "Will work hard and make sure I'm right for the start of next season."
