Derby head coach Steve McClaren is hopeful Jamie Ward will return to the squad against Blackburn this week.
Ward suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with Northern Ireland and the forward missed the trip to rivals Nottingham Forest.
But the 28-year-old could be back in contention when the Rams go to Ewood Park on Wednesday night.
"Jamie was close to making the Forest game," said McClaren following Sunday's 1-1 draw at the City Ground.
"He will train Monday and if he comes through, he will be fit for selection for Wednesday."
