Preston will make goalkeeper Chris Maxwell their first signing of the summer when his Fleetwood contract expires at the end of June.

The 25-year-old has agreed a three-year deal which will keep him at Deepdale until 2019.

The Welsh shot-stopper has made 102 appearances since establishing himself as first choice at Fleetwood last season, and was named the Cod Army's player of the season in 2014/15.

Maxwell said: "It's a fantastic club; it's the biggest club in Lancashire and I've heard nothing but positive things about it and it's a really exciting time for me.

"I've had plenty of advice from people who have spent many, many years here and there's nothing but positive feedback.

"There's a fantastic fanbase, and a fantastic stadium which I have been lucky enough to play in a few times, and also a very experienced manager too, so it's really positive from my point of view and I can't wait to get started."

Preston manager Simon Grayson added: "Chris is another hungry young player, with the right attitude, and we are looking forward to working with him.
