Deepdale boss working to bolster squad

Preston chairman Maurice Lindsay has pledged to back under-pressure manager Darren Ferguson as he looks to bolster his squad. Ferguson confirmed after Tuesday night's 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Barnsley that he was looking to bring in three new faces ahead of Friday's clash with Hull City. The Deepdale outfit are marooned in the Championship relegation zone having been beaten 10 times in 16 outings so far this season. And with Ferguson working feverishly to secure a trio of loan signings in time for the clash with the Tigers, Lindsay has confirmed the North End board will be backing his efforts.

Help

Preston have been linked with temporary moves for Stoke's Danny Pugh and Michael Tonge, while fellow Potters Tom Soares and Ryan Shotton are also believed to be on the radar. Lindsay told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph said: "We will try and give Darren all the support he needs. "Every player he has asked us for so far, we have got for him. "We are working away now to help him further."
