West Brom defender Liam Ridgewell has hailed the signing of 'world class' goalkeeper Ben Foster on a permanent deal.

Defender thrilled to be joined by keeper at Hawthorns

West Brom defender Liam Ridgewell has hailed the signing of 'world class' goalkeeper Ben Foster on a permanent deal. Foster, 29, spent last season on loan at The Hawthorns from Birmingham, but has now made the full-time switch on a three-year contract for a fee believed to be around the £4million mark. Wales international Boaz Myhill is also back with Steve Clarke's side, after his loan spell at Birmingham as part of a swap for Foster. And Ridgewell, who joined Albion from the Blues in January, believes the Baggies have among the strongest goalkeeping options in the top flight. He told the club's official website: "Signing Ben was absolutely fantastic - one of the best pieces of news of the summer. "The term world class is easily used these days - but Foz really is that good.

Confidence

"He gives great confidence to the defenders playing in front of him. "I'm sure a few clubs wouldn't have minded signing him so for us to get him was a fantastic bit of business. "All credit to the chairman for getting him signed up. "Boaz isn't a bad lad to have as a No.2 either. I know him well from my time at Villa and he has gone from strength to strength. "There can't be many Premier League clubs who have two such brilliant goalkeepers."
