Wolves midfielder Andrew Surman is hoping the heat can be taken off Mick McCarthy with a win against Burnley.
McCarthy has faced criticism after he rested 10 players against Manchester United on Tuesday following a surprise win over Tottenham last weekend.
Wolves went down 3-0 at Old Trafford but Surman believes a win against the Clarets at Molineux on Sunday will justify his manager's selection decisions.
"It wasn't a bad performance to be honest but a lot of people jumped on the bandwagon," he said.
"At the end of the day that is out of the way and we have got to look forward to Burnley, which is a massive game.
"The players understand the manager's reasoning against United and it is up to the players and staff to get the win against Burnley.
"The only pressure that is on us is the pressure that we put on ourselves to win the game.
"There has been a lot of media interest about what happened on Tuesday night but that has not put any added pressure on us.
"We know how big a game it is so we are fully focused on that and not worrying about anything else."
Promoted sides
Wolves and Burnley were promoted to the Premier League from the Championship last season but had contrasting starts to the campaign.
While Owen Coyle's side went on a marvellous run with wins against Manchester United, Sunderland and Everton, Wolves were left scrapping it out for points.
However, a win for Mick McCarthy's team will see them go level on points with the Clarets and they could even go above them in the table.
"Obviously, Burnley are a good team and they deserve to be in the Premier League," Surman added.
"Their home form is better than their away form but you have to take each game as it comes.
"Every game is different. We are not looking at their form. We are not looking at our own form.
"Back-to-back wins before playing United has put our confidence back up and you just have to look at what has happened to Birmingham City to see what can occur when you get a run going."
