Wolves striker Stefan Maierhofer is set to finalise a season-long loan move to German side Duisburg.
McCarthy hopes striker impresses out on loan
Wolves striker Stefan Maierhofer is set to finalise a season-long loan move to German side MSV Duisburg.
Maierhofer has struggled to make an impact at Molineux since joining from Rapid Vienna last summer and was recently told by Mick McCarthy that he could leave the club.
A deal has now been agreed for the Austria international to join Duisburg and McCarthy hopes Maierhofer impresses in the German second division.
"It doesn't always work out when a player moves to a new club," the Wolves boss told the club's
official website.
"He is going out to Germany on loan and I hope that he can recapture his goalscoring form because he had a very good record before he came to us."
The 27-year-old scored on his Wolves debut against Blackburn Rovers last year, but only started once in the Premier League.
He undertook a loan spell at Bristol City towards the end of the campaign and is now putting the finishing touches to his switch.
Duisburg manager Milan Sasic told
BILD: "I am aware of him, he was my player during the spell at Koblenz. He is a good boy and will be able to help us achieve, that is for sure.
"We are in need of someone like him. Due to his height, he is a priceless asset during set-piece situations!"
