Wolves chief executive hoping top-flight disaster can be averted
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey admits their relegation battle has turned him into a nervous wreck.
Mick McCarthy's side head into a final day showdown with Blackburn on Sunday knowing that their Premier League fate rests in their own hands.
Victory at Molineux will guarantee safety for another year, while they could theoretically lose and still stay up.
Moxey hopes they will not need to rely on others to do them a favour, having worked so hard to haul themselves clear of the relegation zone.
He does, however, acknowledge that there will be a few nerves knocking around the Wolves camp when fellow strugglers Blackburn roll into town.
Terrified
Moxey told
Sky Sports News HD: "I'm cool, calm and collected. No, I'm absolutely terrified about this game, we have been worried.
"Certainly the Sunderland game [last Saturday] I was really concerned. Looking for back-to-back wins, which we've not achieved this season, I thought would be tough, but to come away with a 3-1 win again just goes to show the resilience and character of our team.
"We never say die and we often come up trumps just when we need to. If you look at some of the victories this season - against Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool - we have remarkable success and then not such great success against the teams that are in the mix with us.
"We have one more game, we need one more win and we will remain in the Premier League.
"We could lose and still stay in the Premier League, but we know that it is in our grasp. We can win the game and stay in the Premier League and that is all our lads are concentrating on - one more win to achieve the objectives of this year.
"We always knew that being in the Premier League for the second season is actually more difficult than the first season. Hopefully, if we can stay in, it gets a little easier, but let's just concentrate on this one game against Blackburn."
