Ronald Zubar hopes to be available for Wolves' trip to Newcastle next week after returning to fitness following a knee injury.
The former Marseille man was injured in a 1-1 draw at Arsenal late last year but made his comeback for Wolves' reserves - coincidentally against the Gunners - on Tuesday.
And the 26-year-old intends to push hard for a recall as he faces up to the challenge of having to impress a new manager at Molineux following the sacking of Mick McCarthy on Monday.
"It was good to play again yesterday and there weren't any problems," Zubar told the club's
official website.
"I took a bit of a bang on my shoulder but it's okay and the knee was fine which is the most important thing.
Heavy-legged
"After almost two months out I felt a bit heavy-legged to start with but that soon wore off and I'm just happy to be back.
"There's another reserve game next week, and I'm going to train hard as I always do and then hopefully I can be available for Newcastle.
"With the situation with the manager at the moment many things can happen but it would be great just to be available again.
"I need to play games but I didn't feel any pain yesterday and so hopefully will be ready next week if required."
Wolves should also be able to count Sebastien Bassong among their defensive options for the Newcastle game.
Steve Kemp, head of Wolves' medical department, confirmed: "We'll see how it progresses but, if he makes a good recovery, he'll have a chance of being available for the trip to Newcastle."
