Stoke boss lauds Kitson strike
Stoke boss Tony Pulis was happy to come through extra time against Leyton Orient in their Carling Cup second round clash.
Dave Kitson's goal in extra time gave Stoke the win, but they were made to work very hard by the League One outfit.
Pulis also paid credit to Orient's role in the tie.
"I thought Orient played their part," said Pulis.
"They had great chances and took us on. It was end to end at times.
"Some of our players hadn't played for a month. They kept going and had some good spirit.
"Kitson scored a great goal to win the game. He should not struggle with confidence the way our supporters have been behind him.
"I have never known anything like it when a player you bring in doesn't hit the back of the net but he is still adored by the fans.
"They have been fantastic with him. He had enough opportunities but it was a great strike. It was a worthy goal to win the game.
"Dave has been unlucky at times. He had a bad year last year with things away from football as well. But he has got his head down and looks a lot sharper this year.
"I am just hoping he will now score a few more."
Os boss pleased
Orient boss Geraint Williams was delighted with his team's overall performance, which just lacked the cutting edge to pull off a shock win.
"I thought there was an awful lot to be proud of," said Williams. "It was an excellent performance.
"We looked very organised defensively against some very good Premier League players.
"We created an awful lot in attack and, had we taken one or two of those chances, we could have easily come out with the right result.
"I thought we got crosses in from both wings. I thought the movement of the two lads up front caused their centre-halves lots of problems."
