Potters boss pleased to have goal explanation
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has thanks referee Alan Wiley for phoning in the wake of Tuesday's controversial draw with Manchester City.
The Potters were denied a last-gasp winner by Wiley after he deemed Shay Given was impeded when Ryan Shawcross headed home late on.
The goal denied City a priceless victory and left Pulis scratching his head at why his side were denied the win against Roberto Mancini's troops.
Pulis has since confessed that Wiley got in touch to explain his decision, a move that has gone down very well in the confines of the Britannia Stadium.
Pleased
"It is the first time a referee has rung up the club and I am pleased he did it," said Pulis.
"It doesn't make it any easier but at least he has had the decency to put his point of view over. He thought Shay was impeded.
"Sometimes it is them and us and it shouldn't be that way. We make mistakes, they make mistakes. If you can sit down and talk about things constructively then it makes it a lot easier.
"I had a good chat with him after he left a message at the club. I have cooled down a little bit but it is still very disappointing. It was two points taken away from us as it happened so late in the game.
"I would not want to be a referee today. Every decision you make, you have cameras around. He has a split second to make a decision. It is so difficult for them.
"Maybe that's why technology should come in when you can ask for video replays, as long as it is quick."
