Potters boss pleased with players but not with points return

Tony Pulis was disappointed to see Stoke left empty-handed following their meeting with Blackpool. The Potters slipped to a 1-0 defeat against the Seasiders on Saturday, with DJ Campbell's effort shortly after half-time settling the tie. The hosts did all they could to take something from the game, with the woodwork hit on no fewer than three occasions. Pulis admitted afterwards that he has never endured such wretched luck in a top-flight fixture, with there little more he could have asked of his players. "Not in the Premier League. Since we got promoted I've never known us have so many chances," he said. "I think the first five corners today we won and they either cleared it or it hit somebody else on the back of the head. "We have had a goal disallowed, we have hit the woodwork three times and we have had people getting in the way of each other. It's been one of those days. "We have to give them credit because they play that way. They remind me of Hull a bit, in their first season in this league when they played with no fear, and they are quite happy to play that way."

Roulette

Pulis felt there was little he could say to his players afterwards, as they were deserving of a lot more than they got. He added: "I've said to the players, I couldn't have asked for more. If we had petered out with 20 minutes to go, you could have had a go at them. But even in the last three minutes of injury-time we had three opportunities to score. Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin." Pulis admits he was fully prepared for a battle with Blackpool, and concedes that their carefree approach was too good for his side on the day. "We knew it was going to be an open game," he said. "I have seen lots of Blackpool this year and they are playing roulette football, they are throwing the dice and hoping things will drop for them. They are very positive but we had the opportunities and chances and didn't take them."
