Stoke winger dreaming of Wembley
Matthew Etherington believes Stoke's long wait for a major piece of silverware could come to an end this season in the FA Cup.
The winger thinks the Potters, who have never reached the showpiece event in their history, have a real opportunity of reaching the final this term.
Etherington is fully aware the club must end their West Ham hoodoo at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday in order to reach the semi-finals, which will be played at Wembley.
He said: "We're the second oldest club in the country, yet we've never been to an FA Cup final, never mind lifted the trophy.
"All the players are desperate to give our loyal fans something to shout about and end that drought this season
"A trip to Wembley for a semi-final will also be a massive confidence booster to make sure we stay in the Premier League."
Loud and proud
Stoke have yet to beat West Ham this season and were hammered 3-0 at Upton Park in the Premier League last weekend.
Etherington added: "As we found out last week, Avram Grant has got his side playing well and he has an excellent record in the FA Cup, so we'll certainly be respecting them.
"But we think we are a match for anybody at our place, and our crowd is unbelievably loud and proud.
"They are the envy of the Premier League and, just like the team, they too will have a scent of Wembley in their nostrils."
