Potters boss pays no attention to critics

Tony Pulis refuses to pay any attention to Stoke's critics, and has urged his chairman to do the same. Despite now being an established Premier League outfit and a side preparing for a day out at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals, the Potters continue to divide opinion. Some question their physical approach to the game and their reliance on set-pieces and Rory Delap long throws. That view does little justice, though, to a side that plays to its strengths but is also more than capable of mixing it with the best in the business. Pulis insists he has grown so accustomed to the criticism that he is now immune to it, with little time given to those who try to sour his achievements. The same cannot be said for Stoke chairman Peter Coates, who publicly blasted the club's detractors following an FA Cup quarter-final victory over West Ham.

Philosophy

Pulis insists there is no chance of him taking the bait any time soon, with the job he has overseen at the Britannia Stadium filling him with pride. He said: "I will speak to Peter and tell him off. In this country we take far too much notice of what other people say instead of believing in what you do and believing your own eyes. "If people want to say things about you, whether they are complimentary or not, it makes no difference. You have got to get on and do what you believe in. "That has always been my philosophy, especially the job I am in. We've had a fantastic period at this club. It has been pretty remarkable. "The other thing is the club is solvent and run by a local chairman. It is not a bad model to follow."
