Transfer news: Oussama Assaidi yet to decide what future holds

Oussama Assaidi fears he may have played his last game on loan at Stoke City, but is yet to decide what his future holds.

The 25-year-old winger is due to see out the 2013/14 campaign at the Britannia Stadium having joined on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

He is, however, currently nursing knee ligament damage suffered while away on warm-weather training in February and is reluctant to rush his rehabilitation and risk suffering a setback.

That means he may not come back into Potters boss Mark Hughes’ plans before making a scheduled return to Anfield.

Assaidi said on his injury in The Sentinel: “Charlie Adam went to shoot and I went to block the ball. My knee twisted, and when I went to stand up I felt the pain.

“It is going better now, but the latest scan showed it is not fully healed and will take some time.

“I have to be careful because I don’t want a bigger injury. I want to play, but I will have to see in the future. I am not ready.”

Stoke are yet to explore the possibility of bringing Assaidi back next season and the Morocco international, who has struggled for game time at Liverpool since completing a switch from Heereneven in 2012, has also given little thought as what the next transfer window may hold.

He is keeping all of his options open, though, and has refused to rule out a return to the Potteries on a permanent basis.

Assaidi added: “I don’t know yet what my situation is, but I like Stoke and am very happy to play here.”
