Mark Hughes says any issues with Steven Nzonzi have been ironed out and the midfielder is set to remain at Stoke City.

The Frenchman has pushed for a move away from the Britannia Stadium on a regular basis in recent windows.

His latest transfer request was tabled earlier in the summer, but Stoke have no intention of selling.

That remains the case amid reported interest from Crystal Palace.

It has been suggested that Nzonzi would welcome the opportunity to work under former Stoke boss Tony Pulis at Selhurst Park, but Hughes claims the 25-year-old is happy where he is and focused on the start of the new Premier League season.

He said in The Sentinel: “Steven’s had a great pre-season.

“He’s looked really sharp and looks in a good place. He’s enjoying his football at the moment and we’re enjoying what he’s producing.

“He’s like the rest of us, he wants the real stuff to start now.

“What happened, happened. There is nothing untoward, it’s over now. We move on and focus on the business of winning games for Stoke.”
