Boothroyd could stick with same side as Stirling hopes for start

Colchester United may be unchanged against MK Dons, who could hand Jude Stirling his first start of the season. The Us had leaked 12 goals in two previous heavy defeats and boss Aidy Boothroyd was encouraged by their response as well as a welcome clean sheet. Christian Ribeiro made his debut at right-back and Paul Reid was restored to the centre of defence after a hernia op, and both should keep their places. Striker Ian Henderson will miss out as he serves the second game of his three-match ban for his sending-off against Norwich. Winger Ashley Vincent is close to returning after a long lay-off with an ankle injury but the Dons clash will come too soon.

MK Dons news

MK Dons' popular utility man Stirling was sidelined until the start of the year with a niggling groin injury but, after a handful of substitute appearances, he could come in at right-back as Dan Woodards is a doubt. Woodards was forced out of the 1-0 win over Tranmere on Saturday with a groin strain and he will be assessed nearer to kick-off. Fellow defender Mat Doumbe is also carrying a groin injury and may be left out as Paul Ince's side play their third game in six days. Ince may make changes after accusing his side of complacency against Tranmere but defender Sean O'Hanlon (knee) remains a long-term absentee.
