Bluebirds stopper insists team can keep improving

Cardiff defender Mark Hudson has backed the Bluebirds to come back fighting from their latest play-off disappointment and secure promotion next season. West Ham won both legs of their Championship play-off semi-final against the Welsh club to book a place in the decider at Wembley, seeing off Malky Mackay's side 3-0 in the second leg at Upton Park on Monday night. It marks the third consecutive year Cardiff have suffered play-off heartache, having previously missed out to Reading and Blackpool. However, 30-year-old stopper Hudson is confident they can bounce back, saying: "If you look at what's happened with the club, we've had a big turnaround with new staff and new owners over the last couple of years.

Consistency

"We also had 12 players leaving and 12 coming in, maybe more, over the course of the season. "We're a young bunch, a small group and we've gelled really well, but maybe it was just one step too far for us. "If the fans keep sticking with us we'll keep doing what we're doing and hopefully keep getting better. "If we keep getting there with the consistency that we've done over the last couple of years, it's got to come for us soon."
