Fixtures: Cardiff begin 2014/15 Championship campaign at Blackburn

Cardiff City’s quest to make an immediate return to the Premier League starts with a trip to Ewood Park to face Blackburn Rovers on August 8, a game which will be shown live on Sky Sports.

The Football League confirmed on their Twitter account that Rovers will welcome Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to Ewood Park on Friday, August 8 at 7.45pm.

The fixtures were released on Wednesday morning, with the Bluebirds following up their trip to Blackburn with back-to-back home games against Huddersfield and Wigan.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were relegated from the top flight after finishing bottom of the table with just seven wins to their name.

The Bluebirds start the Championship season as favourites to top the table and make an immediate return to the Premier League.

Unlike the hectic period they encountered in the Premier League last term, Cardiff face just three fixtures in eight days, with no New Year’s Day outing.

The south Wales side welcome Brentford to the Cardiff City Stadium on December 20 before travelling to face Charlton on Boxing Day, ahead of a home clash with Watford two days later.

A final home game on April 25 sees Blackpool visit the Welsh capital before a season finale with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on May 2.
