Cardiff owner Vincent Tan may change the home kit back to blue after chairman Mehmet Dalman met with a section of supporters

Cardiff City will hold a board meeting on Friday in which they will discuss a return to playing in their traditional blue, with the Bluebird as their crest.

The Welsh club held discussions with supporters, who have protested vehemently since Vincent Tan changed the club's home colours to red and the club crest to a dragon in 2012, on Thursday night.

And after positive talks, club chairman Mehmet Dalman said he believes Tan, who bought the club 2010, could approve proposals for the switch back.

"I think he will listen and consider," Dalman told Sky Sports News HQ.

"Blue is the traditional colour of Cardiff City Football Club and I think there was a strong feeling that the fans would like to be back wearing blue," he said.

"There is also recognition of the fact that Vincent likes red and that should be respected, and with the badge, the fans think the Bluebird should once more be the dominant factor.

Some of the fans stood up and said that, if the colour of the kit did return to blue, then you would never have seen celebrations like it here in Cardiff.

"There was respect that there is a contribution from Vincent , who has invested a lot of his emotion, finances, time and effort at the club, and the badge can be something that can reflect their gratitude towards him and the fact he is the owner.

"He will give this a great deal of consideration. He is a strong individual and only strong people can make these types of decisions. Only weak people will stick to their stubbornness.

Amy Lewis of Sky Sports News HQ was at Thursday night’s meeting and reported afterwards: “Some of the fans stood up and said that, if the colour of the kit did return to blue, then you would never have seen celebrations like it here in Cardiff.

“That board meeting is taking place tomorrow afternoon . Mehmet Dalman did not give anything away in terms of what he would be recommending but clearly he is going to be taking all of what he has heard tonight to Vincent Tan.

“The fans will make concessions but the most important thing to them is that the home kit returns to blue, with that Bluebird crest.

“But, if Vincent Tan does not make any concessions and he sticks with red then, either way, Mehmet Dalman says Vincent Tan will not be walking away from this football club.”
