Friio hangs up boots

Nottingham Forest midfielder David Friio has retired from professional football.

Nottingham Forest midfielder David Friio has decided to hang up his boots as a professional footballer.

The Frenchman, who joined Forest in a £100,000 deal from Plymouth Argyle in February 2005, mutually terminated his contract at The City Ground this week.

It has allowed the 33-year-old to pursue a move home to France in order to set up a football-related business.

Friio ends his playing days after spending less than six years in English football, with five of those years coming at Plymouth between 2000 and 2005.
