Dougie Freedman has had his Southend contract cancelled by mutual consent in order to allow him to join Crystal Palace as their new assistant manager.
The forward has made 41 appearances during his two-year stint with the Shrimpers but will now work alongside new Eagles boss Paul Hart and coach John Pemberton.
