Transfer news: Ryan Inniss expecting to leave Crystal Palace on loan

Ryan Inniss is expecting to be sent out on loan again by Crystal Palace and hopes to test himself in Sky Bet League 1.

The 19-year-old defender was offered a third tier opportunity in February, but suffered a hamstring injury on his debut for Gillingham.

He has only recently returned to training and is aware that stepping up into the Premier League is unlikely at this stage.

Taking that into account, Inniss hopes an agreement can be reached that will allow him to head out and get more important Football League minutes under his belt.

The promising centre-half told the Croydon Advertiser: “If I can break into the first team at Palace, that would be the dream.

“But I can go out on loan and get more experience if that’s what the gaffer (Tony Pulis) wants me to do.

“It’s never too late to get in the first team. I’ve said to the other lads, ‘You never know where you’re going to go next’, so everyone is trying, whether they’re in the first team, development squad or youth team.

“I am not worried about the level if I were to go out on loan again. I played in the Conference Premier, and then League One and League Two I think are fairly similar.

“It’s a bit more football played in League One, but I think I can adapt to both. I just want to get my fitness up before I commit to going out to a club.

“Obviously, I would love to be in the Palace first team and I know it’s going to be tough but I will work as hard as I can, but League One would be realistic for me to go out and play, I think.”

Inniss has figured for Palace in pre-season, in a friendly contest against Havant & Waterlooville, and admits he is delighted to be back out on the field.

He added: “It’s good to be back. Four to five months is a long time.

“The hamstring is feeling better, there is still a bit of scar tissue so I’ll just be gradually upping my minutes in the next few games.”
