McAllister banned for Robins as McAuley hopes to return

Bristol City have defensive problems ahead of the game as Ipswich Town prepare to make a late decision on Gareth McAuley. Jamie McAllister is suspended after he was sent off with the Robins leading 2-1 in Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Nottingham Forest. Fellow defender Liam Fontaine is doubtful after he was withdrawn at half-time in that game with concussion. Louis Carey continues to struggle with a rib injury and will not play, while James Wilson is out with an Achilles problem. Bradley Orr was booked for the 10th time this season against Forest but his two-match ban will not start until next Saturday. Goalkeeper Adriano Basso received treatment for cramp but he should be available.

Ipswich news

Under-fire Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has defender McAuley closing in on a return after a niggling hamstring problem. Giovani Dos Santos recovered from a groin injury to start in the 3-1 defeat at home to Doncaster and he should keep his place after showing no ill-effects. David Wright (hamstring) and Jon Walters (ankle) also returned to action with no problems. Connor Wickham will hope to be involved again after becoming the youngest-ever Town player at 16 years and 11 days when he came on in the second half against Rovers. Jon Stead (back) and Moritz Volz (groin) remain doubtful.
