Ipswich boss hits out over 'missed' penalty
Paul Jewell did not do himself any favours by slating female assistant referee Amy Fearn after the 2-1 defeat at Birmingham.
The Ipswich manager was irked to see an 81st-minute challenge by City skipper Steven Caldwell on Lee Martin go unpunished.
And to make matters worse Nikola Zigic scored a late winner for the hosts to send Jewell and his players home empty handed.
But it was referee Robert Lewis's decision not to give what Jewell called a 'stonewall penalty' that particularly annoyed the Town boss.
Responding to the comment 'I think everyone to a man thought it was a penalty', Jewell replied: "Unfortunately to every man, but not a woman."
"Although the referee didn't have a good view, I thought the lineswoman, or whatever she's called, had a great view," he said.
"It's a stonewall penalty and it's a sending off, but he (Lewis) didn't give it.
"You better ask him why he didn't give it, or her why she (Fearn) didn't give it."
