Wales U21 international pens three-year deal at Portman Road
Ipswich have snapped up highly-rated right-back Elliott Hewitt for an undisclosed fee from League Two outfit Macclesfield.
A number of players are expected to leave Moss Rose this summer following the Silkmen's relegation out of the Football League.
Hewitt is among those to have headed for the exits, and has made the step up into the Championship.
He becomes Paul Jewell's first piece of summer transfer business and has penned a three-year contract at Portman Road.
Versatile
The 18-year-old was coveted by a number of League clubs before agreeing to sign for Ipswich.
Town are delighted to have secured his services, with his versatility a useful asset to have on board.
The Wales U21 international is capable of providing cover in midfield if required, but is at his best on the right of a back four.
Hewitt is a product of the academy system at Moss Rose and became the youngest player to turn out for Macclesfield in the Football League back in 2010/11 when he made his debut at the age of 16.
